Hello, My name is Joel Tjelmeland, and it has been my pleasure to serve as your District #14 Sangamon County Board representative for the past four years. During that time, I have gained a great deal of experience by serving as a member and Vice Chair of several committees.
While in office, my fellow board members and I have succeeded in merging the County and City Health Departments, instituted a new voting system for Sangamon County, passed the controversial Clean Indoor Air Act, and we are currently moving forward to build a new Public Health facility in the medically underserved area of Sangamon County. With your support, I have also worked hard to implement continued improvements to the East Lake Shore Drive project in District #14. The newly created bike path has greatly improved the level of safety for bikers, joggers, and walkers, along with improving the aesthetics along the south side of east Lake Shore Drive. This fall we plan to widen and resurface East Lake Shore Drive, from Spaulding Dam Bridge to Rochester Road.
